Do I need to have a PR degree?
A degree in public relations is not essential. Our employees have a broad range of academic backgrounds. We look for a good track record of academic achievement and a good degree (1st or a 2:1) from a top ranking university.
How many graduates do you take on each year?
The number of graduates we take each year is flexible. In general we take between 5 and 8 graduates.
Will you consider mature applicants?
Yes. We recruit people from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and often find that candidates who have had a previous career bring something extra to the agency.
When will I hear if my application has been successful?
We will endeavour to respond to all candidates by 28th February 2008.
What is the assessment process?
If your application is successful you will initially be required to take part in a telephone interview. If successful, you will then be invited to an assessment day at the Edelman office in London. This will include numerous selection activities including a formal interview. This process may be subject to change.
What is the graduate salary?
The graduate scheme starting salary is currently being reviewed to ensure we remain competitive. In addition to your basic salary you will receive an excellent contractual benefits package including travel insurance. We also provide a number of benefits which are non-contractual such as free breakfasts every morning, subsidised massages and an extra day's holiday for your birthday.
How many people are employed by the organisation?
Edelman worldwide employs nearly 3,000 people in 49 offices. Edelman London has recently experienced a period of growth and now employs in excess of 230 people.
When does the graduate scheme start?
The graduate scheme starts in September of each year.
Where is the Edelman office located?
The Edelman office will be relocating in late Spring 2008. The office will remain in the central London area and promises to be bigger, brighter and better. This move is part of the ongoing integration with the Consumer practice, JCPR (Consumer), currently located in a separate office.
What international opportunities are there?
As a global agency we have a number of client accounts which operate in a number of international markets. This offers the possibility to work and interact with colleagues and clients from around the world. Edelman also offers an international secondment programme, providing you with the opportunity to work abroad. This is available to all staff who meet a pre-defined criteria, such as length of service and business need.
Is Edelman involved in CAMFED and Kids Company?
Edelman supports a number of charities by donating staff time and skill. All staff are encouraged to work with a chosen charity and we facilitate this through charity networking events. We are also a member of the Media Trust. Further information is available at www.mediatrust.org.
Does Edelman organise any social events?
Absolutely - we have a social committee who organise social events. We also have staff drinks every Friday.
Will I be able to work in other departments before I receive my permanent role?
For approximately the first 4 to 5 months you will rotate through the main departments at Edelman. The 2007 graduates have been working with: Healthcare, Corporate, Public Affairs, Financial and Edelman Digital. This year this may also include Technology and Consumer.
